In Iran, the Telecommunication Infrastructure Company (TIC) is the state-owned entity that builds and operates the nation’s core telecom and internet backbone under the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology, and because it controls the main internet gateways it plays a central role in how internet filtering and censorship are technically implemented by routing and managing traffic in ways that enable the government’s content restrictions.
